KENNEL CLUB GOOD CITIZEN DOG SCHEME

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme is the largest dog training programme in the UK and is open to all dogs. At Ruff Diamond Dog Training we offer all levels of the scheme from the puppy foundation assessment all the way up to Gold level. The aim of the scheme is to promote responsible dog ownership and in turn, enhance our relationship with our pets. We run our classes in a positive manner to ensure that you and your dog have fun training and learning together. Following the training there will be the option to take the assessment to gain your official Kennel Club rosette and certificate.

Bronze Good Citizen Dog Scheme

Bronze Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme

The bronze course covers a range of exercises designed to help you teach your dog to walk and behave in a controlled manner on the lead, stay in one position for a minute and come back to you when called. In addition it covers how to groom and inspect your dog whilst they remain calm and relaxed. We also conentrate on teaching the dogs to remain controlled and focused whilst around people and other dogs.

Silver Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme

The Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Silver Award builds upon the skills learned in the Bronze Award whilst increasing the level of difficulty. During the silver course we will introduce new exercises including playing with your dog to motivate and reward them whilst also strengthening your bond. We start to take the training outside with walking in the local area which adds extra distractions and will further improve your loose lead walking. In addition we will build on the controlled greeting from our other courses to ensure your dog can be introduced to a person without them jumping up.

The Gold Award is a natural progression of practical dog training skills and introduces a variety of new exercises that are important in every day life situations and are also fun to teach your dog. Exercises include the emergency stop, so that if ever your dog was in a difficult situation you can stop them on the spot. You will also learn how to teach your dog to walk off lead by your side as you might want them to do in a situation such as the park or beach as well as being able to call them back to heel and then continue walking by your side.
