puppy training and socialisation

Bringing a new puppy home is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. From biting and toilet training to pulling on the lead and learning to settle, those first few months come with plenty of challenges.

Our 6-week Puppy Course gives you the foundations for raising a calm, well-mannered companion. You’ll learn how to get started with key skills like lead walking, recall, focus around other dogs, and polite greetings. We’ll also give you practical strategies for everyday struggles such as mouthing, house training, and time alone, so you can build good habits right from the start.

With only four puppies per class, you’ll benefit from plenty of individual support in a calm and welcoming environment. Training is fun, reward-based, and designed to set your puppy up for success in the real world. The course also includes the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Puppy Foundation Assessment, carried out in such a relaxed way that you’ll hardly notice you’re doing it, but you’ll still finish with a certificate and rosette to celebrate your achievements

What you and your puppy will achieve:

Start good lead walking habits – introduce your puppy to walking calmly by your side, making future walks more enjoyable.

Foundations of recall – begin teaching your puppy to come back when called, even with distractions.

Focus and calm socialisation – help your puppy stay settled and attentive around other puppies and people, learning to engage with you rather than defaulting to play.

Food manners and self-control – teach your puppy to take treats gently, wait their turn, and practise early “leave” and “drop” skills.

Polite greetings – encourage calm, friendly hellos without jumping up.

Handling confidence – get your puppy used to being checked over and gently groomed, making vet and grooming visits less stressful.

Stay basics – teach your puppy to wait briefly, building patience and self-control.

Good Citizen Puppy Foundation Award – work towards the Kennel Club Puppy Foundation certificate and rosette in a relaxed, supportive way.

Perfect for puppies under 20 weeks at the start of the course, this is the ideal way to give them the best start in life and build skills you’ll both rely on for years to come.
